Clark Griffith had a complete game at West Side Park as the Chicago Colts won
in their last at-bat beating the Boston Beaneaters by the count of 5 to
4.

The game was decided in the 9th inning.  Griffith delivered a one-base hit.
Malachi Kittridge stepped into the batter's box and he laced a base-knock.
Bill Everitt then delivered a base-hit making Chicago the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful.  Chicago won despite being out-hit by
Boston 19 hits to 13.  

The winning pitcher was Griffith(12-7) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Kid
Nichols(16-10) was hit with the loss.  'He gutted it out' Cap Anson said of
Griffith.  'I was very impressed by his tenacity.'
