Ted Lewis pitched a 3 hitter at South End Grounds as the Boston Beaneaters
beat the St. Louis Browns by the count of 10 to 1.

Boston tallied 6 runs in the 2nd inning when they had 4 base hits.  That was
all the runs Lewis(10-5) needed.  Boston totaled 16 hits on the afternoon.

George Gillpatrick(3-5) suffered the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 16 hits
and 4 walks in 8 innings.  'Lewis was the man today,' Frank Selee said.  'He
had just about every pitch working.'
