Cy Young went 9 strong innings at Columbia Park as the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics beat the Detroit Tigers 5 to 1.

Philadelphia-AL did all of it's offensive work in the 7th inning when they
came up with 5 runs on 4 hits.  Philadelphia-AL had 8 hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Young(11-6) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Kid
Nichols(10-11) was charged with the loss.  He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings
allowing 7 hits and 1 walk.

'Our guys just weren't seeing the ball today.' Jim Murphy said.  'Young simply
dominated us.'
