Buttons Briggs had a strong outing at West Side Park as the Chicago Cubs beat
the New York Giants in 10 innings by the count of 5 to 4.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Chicago came out on top
in the 10th inning. Jimmy Slagle started the inning off right when he
reached on an error. Doc Casey next to the plate and he reached on an error.
After another out, Jack McCarthy then hit a sacrifice fly knocking in a run.
Johnny Kling followed next and he lashed a single resulting in an exciting
win for Chicago and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Chicago had only 5 hits for the afternoon.
