TEAM RISP- Cardinals: 5 for 13 Giants: 4 for 14

Billy Gilbert had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Red Ames was able to finish what
he started and was credited with a complete game as the spectacular New York
Giants staged a dramatic comeback over the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of
7 to 6 at Polo Grounds.

New York scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 2
runs on 3 hits. After two outs Bill Dahlen keyed the rally when he slapped a
single. Roger Bresnahan stepped up next and he lined a one-base hit. Sammy
Strang then drew a walk to load the bases. Frank Bowerman stepped in and he
laced a base-knock giving New York the win as 15,231 happy fans joyfully
celebrated. New York managed 14 hits in their victory.

Ames(13-5), allowing 6 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Jake
Thielman(6-9) was the loser. He was hit hard and gave up 14 hits and 4 walks
in 8 and 2/3 innings.

'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' New York's manager offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a
great time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
