Fred Pfeffer had 3 base hits and 6 RBI and Mark Baldwin went the distance as
the Chicago White Stockings defeated the Indianapolis Hoosiers by the score
of 18 to 12 at Athletic Park.

Pfeffer provided the offensive punch.  He slapped a single bringing home two
baserunners in the 1st inning, doubled with all three baserunners touching
home in the 4th inning and smacked a one-base hit bringing in a run in the
9th inning.  Chicago bats were very productive in the 4th inning scoring 6
runs.  The Chicago offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.  

The winning pitcher was Baldwin(4-11) who allowed 12 runs for the game. Bill
Burdick(0-1) took the loss.  He allowed 18 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.

With this win, Chicago has a 38-32 record.  They have been 4-6 lately. With
the loss Indianapolis now has a record of 24-44, worst in the league.
