TEAM RISP- Giants: 6 for 15 Beaneaters: 13 for 27
WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Bobby Lowe robbed Monte Ward of a base hit.

Herman Long had 5 hits and 5 RBI and Harry Staley allowed Frank Selee to rest
his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Boston Beaneaters destroyed the
New York Giants by a score of 27 to 10 at South End Grounds.

Long enjoyed a big day at the plate. He cleared the fences for a two-run home
run in the 1st inning, doubled scoring a run in the 2nd inning, delivered a
base-hit in the 3rd inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 4th inning and
doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 7th inning. Boston kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning which saw them score 7 runs on 5 hits and
the 3rd inning with 10 runs on 8 hits. Boston simply wore out the New York
pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Staley(9-6) was the winner allowing 10 runs for the game. Les German(4-6) was
the loser. He served up 5 homeruns in his 7 and 2/3 innings.

Long said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
today. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
