John Anderson had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Win Mercer pitched a complete game
as the Washington Senators defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 8 to 6 at Baker
Bowl.

Mercer(9-11) delivered a fine performance for Washington.  He surrendered 13
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.  This was the kind of game that many fans love
as the lead changed hands 5 times.  

Wiley Piatt(10-7) was hit with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 12 hits
and 6 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.  'I had a little blister on my index finger
before the game, but I thought it was nothing.' Mercer said.  'I was lucky I
got a win because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.'
