Luther Taylor was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and left fielder Roy Thomas had 2 base hits as the Pittsburgh
Pirates defeated the St. Louis-NL Cardinals 5 to 2 at Exposition
Park.

Pittsburgh promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runs
using 4 hits. After an out was recorded, Billy Gilbert kicked off the action
when he banged out a single. Gilbert was running on the next pitch and he
stole second. Pittsburgh continued their aggressive style with another
stolen base. Thomas was up next and he ripped a base-hit, and an error was
also committed, driving in a run. Sam Crawford came up to bat and would
ground out scoring the final run of the inning. Pittsburgh banged out 11
hits on the afternoon.

Taylor(2-7) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Willie
Sudhoff(8-16) was the loser. He surrendered 5 runs and 10 hits in 5 innings.
