Patsy Flaherty pitched a complete game as the Boston Doves pulled out a win
over the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 5 to 4 at South End
Grounds.

Boston scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Newt Randall
doubled.  After an out was recorded, Tom Needham stepped in and he ripped a
one-base hit.  Needham got a good lead and stole second.  Claude Ritchey came
up and he laced a base-hit giving Boston the victory as 3,011 happy fans
celebrated wildly.  Boston totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  

The victory went to Flaherty(6-6) who went the distance allowing 4 runs. Vic
Willis(13-6) was the losing pitcher.  He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 2
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.
