Roy Witherup hurled a fine complete game shutout as the Washington Nationals
beat the St. Louis Browns by a score of 6 to 0.

Witherup(1-1) put on a good performance.  He allowed only 8 hits and 1 walk in
9 innings lowering his ERA from 2.57 to 1.13.  Washington totaled 9 hits on
the afternoon.  

Bill Bailey(3-5) was charged with the loss.  Washington now has a record of
30-52.  With the loss, St. Louis has a record of 4-6 lately, 43-43 overall.
