George McQuillan tossed a fine 4 hitter as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the
New York Giants in 12 innings 3 to 2 at Polo Grounds.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Pittsburgh won it in
the 12th inning.  George Gibson reached on an error.  Fred Clarke then called
for a steal which was successful.  McQuillan was next to bat, but he was a
strikeout victim.  Jim Viox stepped in and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the
run.  Pittsburgh banged out 13 hits on the afternoon.  

McQuillan(2-3), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Rube
Marquard(10-8) was the loser.  The Pittsburgh ballclub's record now stands at
46-41.  New York has a record of 50-37 after the loss.
