In a game for the baseball purist, Whitey Ford(16-7) and Bob Rush(1-1) squared
off in a tense pitching duel, mighty Chicago-NL Cubs finally emerged
victorious over Washington Nationals, 3 to 0.

Chicago-NL came up with all the runs they needed in the 1st inning as they
scored 3 runs on 3 base hits. That early run support was all that Ford
required. After the 1st inning, neither team was able to score.

Sid Hudson recorded his 3rd save.
