TEAM RISP- Canaries: 7 for 20 Mutuals: 8 for 24

Third baseman John Hatfield had 5 hits and 4 RBI and Bobby Mathews completed
the game without help from the bullpen as the New York Mutuals rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Baltimore C Canaries, 14 to
13.

New York had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits.
Dave Eggler led off the inning for New York when he slapped a base-hit, and
an error was also committed. After an out was recorded, Hatfield stepped up
to the plate and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run resulting in an
exciting win for New York and a raucous post-game celebration by the home
town fans. New York managed 17 hits in their victory.

The win was credited to Mathews(14-14) who went the whole way allowing 13
runs. Candy Cummings(18-17) absorbed the loss. He gave up 14 runs in 8 and
1/3 innings of work.

'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Hatfield noted. 'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'
