Cincinnati had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 3 hits. John Kelly led off and keyed the rally when he reached on an error. Two outs later Kennedy took second on a stolen base. Burns then bombed a two-run dinger. Bill Harbridge stepped in and he ripped a one-base hit, and an error was also committed. Lou Sylvester came up to bat and was walked intentionally. O'Leary added to the outburst and banged out a single making Cincinnati the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times. The win went to Burns(14-12) who allowed 8 runs in the game. Henry Boyle(3-3) was tagged with the loss. Cincinnati knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 9 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. O'Leary was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
