Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the count of 5 to

Wood(11-7) was solid in the win. He allowed just 11 hits and no walks in 9
innings. Washington totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.
The loss was charged to Lefty Leifield(17-8). Everyone seemed to enjoy the
performance of Wood - except Philadelphia-AL. Andy Spector lamented, 'He
just was 'on' this afternoon. He was keeping our guys off balance all game.
A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the
hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
