Center fielder Stan Musial had 2 base hits as the Philadelphia Phillies
outscored the Boston Red Sox 5 to 2.

Philadelphia scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 2 base hits.  Phil Rizzuto led off and started the rally when
he drew a walk.  Jack Lohrke came to the plate and doubled.  Floyd Baker then
drew a walk to load the bases.  Nellie Fox followed and he slapped a single
driving home two runs.  Gene Hermanski came up to bat and drew a walk to load
the bases.  Musial added to the uprising and hit a deep fly scoring the final
run of the inning.  The Boston bats were silent in the bottom of the 9th.

Tiny Bonham(4-1) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Bobby
Shantz was credited with his 3rd save.  Tommy Byrne(2-4) was tagged with the
loss in relief.  He surrendered 4 runs and 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

With this win, Philadelphia has a 42-37 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.
With the loss Boston now has a record of 34-45.
