Jackie Robinson had 4 hits and scored 3 times as the Cincinnati Reds topped
the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 7 to 5 at Crosley Field.

Cincinnati claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 3 runs on
4 base hits.  Pittsburgh had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came
up short.  

The victory went to Johnny Schmitz(2-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run.
Satchel Paige got the save, his 8th.  Joe Dobson(2-8) absorbed the loss.  He
got hammered, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.  

'It was a tough one to lose' said Andy Spector 'We'll get them next time out.'
