Center fielder Dave Rowe had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Perry Werden whitewashed
Cincinnati on 3 hits as the St. Louis Maroons smashed the overmatched
Cincinnati Outlaw Reds, 15 to 0.
Rowe was really in 'the zone'. He doubled which plated a run in the 2nd
inning, tripled which scored a run in the 4th inning, doubled which was good
for two runs in the 5th inning and doubled in the 9th inning. St. Louis lit
up the scoreboard in the 1st inning which saw them score 3 runs on 4 hits and
the 5th inning scoring 3 runs. The St. Louis offense smacked the Cincinnati
pitching staff around, scoring in 8 of the 9 innings.
Werden(3-0) was credited with the shutout. The loss was charged to George
Bradley(18-11). He was knocked around, surrendering 15 runs in 9 innings.
Werden was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the
game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt
great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope
that I can do it again next time out!'
