Left fielder George Treadway blasted a grand slam at South End Grounds as the
Brooklyn Grooms came back dramatically to top the Boston Beaneaters by the
score of 14 to 11.

Brooklyn won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 3 hits. The big moment was provided by Treadway who
silenced the stadium when he launched a Grand Slam homerun. A wild and
woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 6 times.

The win went to Fred Underwood(1-2) who allowed 11 runs in 8 innings. Dan Daub
earned his 2nd save. Kid Nichols(15-12) was tagged with the loss. He got
hit pretty hard, allowing 18 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.

'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Treadway said. 'If you
just keep trying good things can happen!'
