George Moriarty had 2 base hits as the Detroit Tigers outscored the Washington
Nationals 3 to 1.

Detroit came up with all the runs they needed in the 5th inning plating 3 runs
on 3 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Charlie Deal began the rally when
he doubled.  Moriarty next to the plate and he doubled knocking in a run.
Baldy Louden then drew a walk.  Oscar Stanage followed next and he ripped a
base-hit to load the bases.  Jean Dubuc came up to bat and reached on an
error plating another run.  Bill Donovan dug into the batters box next, but
he struck out.  Donie Bush stepped up next and he drew a walk scoring the
final run of the inning.  Washington made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.  

Dubuc(10-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Tex Covington got the save, his 2nd.  Tom Hughes(8-6)
absorbed the loss.  

The Detroit ballclub's record now stands at 39-53. Washington, which had been
on a roll, saw their record drop to 53-38.
