In a close game the St. Louis-AL Browns got by the Boston-AL Red Sox by the
score of 7 to 5.

St. Louis-AL had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning with 2 runs
using 3 hits.  After an out was recorded, Del Pratt keyed the rally when he
banged out a single.  Jack Lapp followed next and he lined a base-hit.  Engle
got a great jump and stole second easily.  Babe Borton followed and he was
walked intentionally to load the bases.  Dode Paskert came to the plate and
delivered a single scoring two baserunners.  Hank Robinson pitched a perfect
ninth and was credited with his 25th save.  

Rube Marquard(11-7) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 7 innings. Walter
Johnson(14-6) was tagged with the loss.  He surrendered 7 runs and 11 hits in
9 innings.  

'He gutted it out' Tim Singer said of Marquard.  'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'
