The Chicago Cubs had an easy time of it at South End Grounds defeating the
Boston Braves in 14 innings by a score of 13 to 4.
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Chicago was victorious
in the 14th inning. The big moment was provided by Claud Derrick who helped
quiet the crowd when he singled bringing in two baserunners. Chicago had 18
hits overall, while Boston had 12.
Bert Humphries(4-6) got the win allowing no runs in 6 innings. Paul
Strand(4-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. It was a tough loss for him as
he did not allow an earned run in his 6 and 1/3 innings of work.
