Cy Falkenberg went 9 solid innings at Exposition Park where the Indianapolis
Hoosiers beat the Pittsburgh Rebels 5 to 0.
Indianapolis promptly took the lead in their half of the first with 2 runs
using 3 hits. After two outs Bill McKechnie kicked off the action when he
singled. Benny Kauff stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Charlie
Carr then slapped a one-base hit knocking in a run. Jimmy Esmond was up next
and he ripped a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. That was all
Falkenberg(20-3) needed. Indianapolis totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.
Walt Dickson(5-11) was the loser. He got hammered, allowing 11 hits and 4
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. 'He had his 'A' game today,' Bill Phillips said
of Falkenberg. 'Very impressive performance.'
