Indianapolis promptly took the lead in their half of the first with 2 runs using 3 hits. After two outs Bill McKechnie kicked off the action when he singled. Benny Kauff stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Charlie Carr then slapped a one-base hit knocking in a run.
