Ruth had a big day at the plate. He depressed the partisan hometown fans with
a grand slam home run in the 3rd inning and smashed a two-run homer in the
5th inning. Boston had 12 hits for the afternoon.

Ruth(9-5) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Bill James(8-8)
took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.

Branch Rickey was impressed with Ruth and his 12 strikeouts. 'It's tough to
generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'
