Al Spalding pitched a complete game and Ross Barnes had 4 hits and 2 RBI at
South End Grounds as the Boston Red Stockings beat the Baltimore C Canaries
by the count of 16 to 11.

Baltimore C never recovered after Boston took the lead in the 6th inning
plating one baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. Boston kept the scorekeepers
busy in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 9 runs on 6 hits and the 7th
inning with 4 runs on 3 hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5
different innings was still not enough for Baltimore C to come away with the
victory.

Spalding(17-6) allowed 11 runs on the game. Candy Cummings(18-18) ended up
with the loss. He allowed Boston 16 runs in 8 innings of work.
