Tommy Bond allowed Harry Wright to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Boston Red Stockings defeated the Syracuse Stars by a score of 5 to 3
at Newell Park.

Boston promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring one runner
utilizing 2 base hits.  Syracuse had a chance in the 9th but they came up
short.  

The win went to Bond(19-10) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Harry
McCormick(11-23) was the loser.  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 9 hits
and 3 walks.
