Ben Sanders allowed Charlie Buffinton to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game as the Philadelphia Athletics topped the floundering Chicago Pirates by
a score of 8 to 3 at South Side Park.

Philadelphia wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
came up with 2 runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by George Wood
who silenced the stadium when he ripped a base-knock which was good for two
runs. Philadelphia finished with 9 hits in the victory.

Sanders(13-10) allowed 3 runs on the game. Mark Baldwin(18-11) took the loss.
He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 9 innings and not allowing an earned run.
