Catcher Deacon McGuire cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Huntington Ave
Grnds as the Detroit Tigers won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the
Boston Americans by the count of 12 to 4.

The difference in the game was the offensive outburst by Detroit in the 9th
inning as they showed no mercy on Boston blasting them for 9 hits and plating
10 runs. The highlight belonged to McGuire who quieted the home crowd when
he launched a three-run homer. Detroit had 16 hits for the afternoon while
Boston had 7.

The win went to Ed Siever(6-12) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. Bill
Dinneen(10-14) was given the loss. After the game, it took a long while
before Jimmy Collins emerged from his office. In a subdued tone he answered
only a couple of questions. He concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a
very talkative mood this afternoon, as I think you'll understand. I'm sure
you'll find the banter a lot more light-hearted over in the Detroit locker
room.'
