Jack Powell completed the game without help from the bullpen at Bennett Park
as the New York-NL Giants belted the Detroit Tigers by the count of 14 to
2.

New York-NL wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 3
runs on 3 base hits. Honus Wagner led off and keyed the rally when he drew a
walk. Wagner then stole second base. Topsy Hartsel then doubled scoring a
single run. Cy Seymour was up next and he tripled driving in one more
runner. Harry Lumley came to the plate and lined a one-base hit scoring the
final run of the inning. That scoring would be all that was needed. New
York-NL totaled 19 hits on the afternoon.

Powell(9-8) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Kid Nichols(10-10)
was the losing pitcher. 'After the stretch we have been through lately, this
victory is especially sweet' offered Brian Capsello. Now, we just have to
make this the norm - not the exception!'
