In a one-sided affiar at Baker Bowl the final score was the Philadelphia
Phillies 12, the Chicago Cubs 5.

In the 4th inning Philadelphia scored 8 runs when they came up with 8 base
hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Kid Gleason who elicited a roar
from the hometown fans when he tripled plating two runs.  Even though they
scored in 5 different innings, Chicago was not able to pull off the win.

The win was credited to Kid Nichols(6-4) who went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 5
runs. Buttons Briggs(5-5) was the losing pitcher.  He was touched for 15 hits
and 4 walks in 8 innings.
