The Washington Nationals topped the New York-AL Yankees by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6. Bob Feller(7-10) was credited with the win in a less than impressive performance. He gave up 6 runs, 10 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings. New York-AL made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Feller got help from Carl Erskine who was credited with his 5th save. Morrie Martin(2-2) was the loser. He allowed 8 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Robert Baker was clearly disappointed after the game. 'It was a manager's nightmare out there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'
