Mickey McDermott had a complete game and right fielder Jim Rivera touched them
all and had 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds topped the Brooklyn Dodgers by a
score of 11 to 4 at Crosley Field.

Cincinnati scored 3 runs in the decisive bottom of the 2nd inning.  The
crucial at-bat was provided by Rivera who made the Cincinnati fans a happy
lot when he cracked a two-run shot.  Offensively, Cincinnati was a
juggernaut.  They scored in 6 separate innings.  

McDermott(6-1) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. Gene
Conley(3-8) ended up with the loss.  By surrending 11 runs in 8 innings his
ERA jumped from 4.62 to 5.09.
