Wes Fisler had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Dick McBride went the distance at
Jefferson St Grounds as the Philadelphia Athletics won a thriller over the
Boston Red Stockings in, 12 to 11.

The game was won by Philadelphia with a run in the 9th inning.  Ned Cuthbert
singled.  McBride stepped up to the plate and he stroked a one-base hit.
Levi Meyerle then reached on an error resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Philadelphia and the 4,962 home town fans in attendance.  Even though they
scored in 5 different innings, Boston was not able to pull off the win.

McBride(12-8) got the victory, allowing 11 runs for the game. Al
Spalding(23-2) was given the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving
up 12 runs in 8 innings.
