The Philadelphia-NL Phillies and the hopeless Philadelphia-AL Athletics locked
up in an exciting one-run game at Baker Bowl. The final score was the
Philadelphia-NL Phillies 7, the hopeless Philadelphia-AL Athletics 6 in 11
innings.

The score was tied at 6 after nine. Philadelphia-NL came out the victor in
the 11th inning. After two outs Art Devlin drew a walk. Mark McGonigle then
called for a steal which was successful. Kid Elberfeld then banged out a
single giving Philadelphia-NL the victory and sending the 1,396 home-town
fans home happy. Philadelphia-NL rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.

The victory was credited to Carl Lundgren(9-8) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Andy Coakley(4-4) suffered the loss in relief. He was the victim of a
defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
