WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Denny Sullivan robbed Bill Coughlin of an extra base hit.

Bill Donovan tossed a complete game as the Detroit Tigers outscored the
reeling Boston Americans 2 to 1.

Detroit scored the winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on 2 base
hits. Boss Schmidt led off and started the attack as he reached on an error.
Charley O'Leary came to the plate and banged out a single. O'Leary took off
for second and slid in with a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Ralph
Glaze then let one get away for a wild pitch resulting in a run. Davy Jones
came up to bat and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Boston had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

The win went to Donovan(7-4) who allowed 1 run in the game. Glaze(3-8) ended
up with the loss. He gave up only 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.

'Some losses are harder to take than others' Deacon McGuire lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
