Hoffmeister was spectacular at the plate. He tripled bringing home two baserunners in the 2nd inning, hit a 'grand salami' to the delight of his teammates in the 4th inning, doubled in the 6th inning and delivered a base-hit in the 8th inning. Pittsburg provided plenty of action in the 1st inning plating 4 runs, the 2nd inning with 4 runs on 5 hits and the 4th inning which saw them plate 7 runs on 6 hits. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times. Hughey(4-5) allowed 10 runs on the game. The losing pitcher was Jack Fifield(11-9). He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 19 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. 'The ball was jumping off my bat' Hoffmeister said. 'I didn't do anything differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'
