At Exposition Park the Philadelphia Phillies easily handled the Pittsburg
Pirates by the score of 5 to 1.

In the 5th inning Philadelphia scored 3 runs with the help of 3 hits.  Wiley
Piatt opened up the inning nicely when he reached on an error.  Duff Cooley
was next and he lined a single.  Klondike Douglass then laid down a sacrifice
bunt.  Ed Delahanty followed next and he laced a single, and an error was
also committed, bringing in two baserunners.  Nap Lajoie came to the plate
and would ground out scoring the final run of the inning.  For the game
Philadelphia out-hit Pittsburg 11 to 5.  

The victory was credited to Piatt(11-7) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Billy Rhines(9-11) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 11 hits and 3
walks in 9 innings.
