Polo Grounds.
New York-NL scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they had 3 base
hits. The key at-bat was by Bob Unglaub who thrilled the crowd when he
belted a three-run homer. Brooklyn tried unsuccessfully to come back in the
9th.
The victory went to Vic Willis(8-8) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 3
runs. Willis got relief help from Irv Higginbotham who gained credit for his
6th save. Lew Moren(6-10) ended up with the loss. He pitched 6 innings
giving up 3 hits and 4 walks.
