Center fielder Solly Hofman slammed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Harry
McIntire allowed Frank Chance to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as
the Chicago Cubs topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 11 to 3 at
West Side Park.

Hofman was spectacular at the plate.  The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat.  He belted a
three-run homer in the 1st inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 3rd
inning.  Chicago had a total of 16 hits for the game.  

McIntire(9-5) allowed 3 runs on the game. The loss was charged to Bill
Burns(4-9).  He got hit hard, allowing 16 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.
