Shortstop Pee Wee Reese had 2 base hits as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
New York-AL Yankees in 11 innings 1 to 0 at Yankee Stadium.
Neither team scored in the first nine innings. Finally, Chicago-NL pulled the
game out in the 11th inning. Reese lined a base-hit. Eddie Yuhas followed
next and he drew a walk. Ferris Fain then reached on an error. Eddie Yost
followed and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run. Overall Chicago-NL
out-hit New York-AL 7 to 4.
The win went to Yuhas(6-5) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. Yuhas was helped
out by Willie Ramsdell who recorded his 6th save. Paul Minner(2-3) ended up
with the loss in relief.
