One run was the difference at Fenway Park as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies
defeated the dreadful Boston-AL Red Sox 5 to 4.

Philadelphia-NL took the lead for good in the top of the 7th inning as they
scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. The key at-bat was by Stan Musial who quieted
the crowd when he clubbed a two-run home run. Philadelphia-NL ended up with
11 hits for the game while Boston-AL had 7.

Bob Rush(7-6) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Rush got help from Ken Heintzelman who earned his 3rd save. The loss was
charged to Mickey McDermott(3-7) in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
giving up 2 hits and no walks.
