Tony Mullane completed the game without help from the bullpen at Washington
Park as the Cincinnati Red Stockings beat the Brooklyn Bridegrooms in 10
innings 8 to 7.

The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings. Finally, Cincinnati
pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  Hugh Nicol delivered a single.
Nicol stole second with some aggressive base running.  One out later, John
Reilly then hit a deep fly scoring the run.  The Brooklyn bats were silent in
the bottom of the 10th.  

Mullane(15-14), allowing 7 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The
losing pitcher was Bob Caruthers(18-10).  He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk in 10
innings.
