Rube Marquard carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the St. Louis-AL
Browns defeated the Boston-AL Red Sox 3 to 2 at Sportsman'S
Park.

Marquard(1-1) was virtually untouchable. He allowed only 4 hits and no walks
in 9 innings. The left-handed Marquard had his no-hit bid broken up by Harry
Niles who doubled with one out in the 7th inning. Boston-AL threatened in
the 9th but St. Louis-AL was able to put down the rally.

Fred Olmstead(2-5) took the loss. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances
today,' Roy Purcell said. 'Marquard just was too much for our guys.'
