Jack Coombs blanked Washington allowing just 2 hits and Eddie Collins had 2
base hits and 2 RBI as the powerful Philadelphia Athletics bested the
Washington Nationals 7 to 0 at Shibe Park.

Coombs(15-5) was tremendous on the mound for Philadelphia.  He didn't allow
much, just 2 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings.  Neither team managed to score
after the 4th inning.  

Bob Groom(13-7) was charged with the loss.  'He came out with good stuff,'
Philadelphia's manager said about Coombs. 'He threw the ball good from the
first pitch on.'
