Right fielder Sam Crawford hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Navin Field as the
Detroit Tigers beat the Washington Nationals 5 to 4.

Detroit came up with 3 runs in the 7th inning when they came up with 3 base
hits. Ty Cobb opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk. Hughie
Jennings then called for a steal which was successful. Harry Heilmann then
ripped a base-hit scoring a single run. Donie Bush followed and he laid down
a sacrifice bunt. George Moriarty came to the plate and drew a walk. Hugh
High kept things alive and stroked a one-base hit driving in one more runner.
Crawford next to the plate and he doubled scoring the final run of the
inning. Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.

The victory went to George Boehler(4-4) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Pug Cavet earned the save, his 4th. Jim Shaw(9-5) was the loser. He pitched
6 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 8 hits and 5 walks.

'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Clark
Griffith said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say
they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
