Gavy Cravath launched 2 homeruns and Erskine Mayer recorded a complete game
shutout as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the St. Louis Cardinals by a score
of 2 to 0.

Mayer(12-11) had a strong outing.  He allowed just 7 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings.  After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.  

Dan Griner(4-8) was given the loss.  He gave up just 2 runs and 4 hits in 9
