Ted Williams had 2 base hits at Forbes Field as the Boston Red Sox beat the
Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 7 to 4.

Boston scored the winning runs in the 8th inning when they scored 5 runs on 5
hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Wally Westlake who silenced the
stadium when he launched a three-run homer.  Boston had 8 hits overall, while
Pittsburgh had 5.  

Andy Hansen(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Hansen was helped out by Jack Banta who recorded his 12th save.  Eddie
Erautt(3-6) suffered the loss in relief.  He was knocked around, surrendering
3 runs in 2 innings.
