Catcher Roy Campanella had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Griffith Stadium as the
Washington Nationals beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 4 to 3.

Murry Dickson(6-6) pitched a fine game. He allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 8
and 1/3 innings. Brooklyn threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.

Dickson got help from Joe Nuxhall who earned his 10th save. Willard Nixon(1-2)
was tagged with the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings.

Roy Purcell was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of
loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
