Pud Galvin had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and he pitched a complete game as the
Pittsburgh Alleghenys outscored the Philadelphia Quakers 7 to 5.

Pittsburgh came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning as they
scored 5 runs on 4 base hits.  Although they lost, Philadelphia did out-hit
Pittsburgh 14 to 7.  

The victory was credited to Galvin(16-12) who went the distance, allowing 5
runs. Jim Devlin(0-1) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 7 runs and 7 hits
in 8 innings.  

'I struggled a bit out there today,' Galvin said, 'but I toughed it out and we
got the win.'
